About / Tyrone Fontaine
I work where design systems, UX engineering, and content stewardship meet.
I design and build web systems for content-heavy organizations, working across interface design, implementation, accessibility, and long-term stewardship.
Professional arc
A practice shaped by making and maintaining.
My early independent practice at Black Plastic Design connected visual identity, campaign work, front-end development, and multimedia production. Roles with the University of Manitoba and Kent State University deepened that practice through quality assurance, Drupal, accessibility, discovery, and editor training.
Since 2023, my work at Cleveland Public Library has centered on design systems, Gutenberg production, accessible public interfaces, cross-team production, and the ongoing stewardship that follows launch.

Capabilities + tools
A connected practice, not a list of handoffs.
Design systems
Figma libraries, reusable components and patterns, documentation, governance, and the practical work of maintaining consistency.
UX + content structure
Information architecture, interface hierarchy, accessible content patterns, collaborative discovery, prototyping, and usability testing.
Implementation
WordPress and Gutenberg, Drupal, semantic HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP where relevant, custom patterns and plugins, Git, and local development workflows.
Visual + multimedia production
Layout, typography, campaign systems, motion graphics, After Effects, video production, and cross-functional creative delivery.
What I am looking for
A role where design, implementation, and stewardship belong to the same conversation.
I am interested in design systems, UX engineering, UX/UI engineering, and civic or public-interest digital services, especially work on complex, content-heavy platforms that need thoughtful long-term care.
